The 411 and Beyond ..... !

It was a revisited Al Green classic by UK artist Lemar, which first planted the seed for The 411. In fact, members Tanya and Tisha first met whilst singing backing vocals on ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and it turned out Lemar wasn’t the only one who was listening.
A Sony Music Records representative immediately approached the two and encouraged them to assemble a four-piece vocal group. Once recruiting Carolyn (an old friend from Surrey) and Suzie (attending University, with Tanya’s best friend), the 411 were born.
A captivating blend of Pop and RnB, the group set out to send the airwaves afire and firmly plant the girls as frontrunners in the UK talent pool. Smash hits ‘On My Knees’ and ‘Dumb,’ debuted on the UK charts at number four and three respectively, with the latter featuring on television advert for Lux shower gel.
The name ‘The 411’ paid tribute to Mary J Blige’s urban masterpiece ‘What’s the 411?’ (411 is also the US number for ‘information’) and soon was on the lips of every presenter from Radio One to Top of the Pops.
With varying styles and influences, the group used their talents to form their own vocal arrangements and write majority of tracks on the album, ‘Between the Sheets.’ Guests included Wu- Tang Clan member, Ghostface Killah on UK Top 5 single, ‘On My Knees,’ acclaimed songwriter Dianne Warren (‘What If It Was You’) and producer Fitzgerald Scott who has worked with artists Lemar, Another Level and Keith Sweat.
Released after the commended ‘Teardrops,’ Between the Sheets provided the group with more travel opportunities, which in turn, gained them further exposure throughout the UK and Europe.
In early 2005, The 411 were dropped by Sony BMG and with no luck attaining another record deal, decided to disband. The girls are currently working on different projects and now see The 411 as the beginning of a very bright future.
